Hui Kaha Pohaku

Darlene Martin, Mahealani Pai, Mahina Pai, and Keone Kalawe guided our students in our Holua Project.

James Cowen, University of Hawaii-Manoa

Jim and his research team are working with Hui Malama to share the exciting world of deep ocean exploration.  Jim and Randi are working on several initiatives and projects to provide more opportunities for students from typically underserved populations to have meaningful, inspiring experiences in the field of science.

Jennifer Johanson, UH-Hilo, Hooulu Lehua

Auntie Jen is helping us learn about the amazing ohia trees and our unique lowland wet rainforests in Puna.

Robin Baird, Cascadia Research

We work with Robin to raise awareness for the plight of the critically endangered population of false killer whales (Pseudorca crassidens) endemic to Hawaii.  Our long-range goal is to get the false killer whale named the state whale for Hawaii.

Scott Larsen, UH-Manoa

Scott brings his knowledge about our native rainforests and the creatures who live within them to our students.  He and Kainana Francisco are working under an education grant centered around Hakalau Forest.
